I got in and never got back out
Somebody said we should catch up soon. That was in March.
I have been over the water ever since. The water does not ask me anything.

I pass over your city every evening
Somebody down there is on a balcony arguing about rent.
Nobody has looked up yet. Six months, not one head.

The gulls have screamed since June
They follow me for hours. They think I am holding chips.
I can see the beaks open. I cannot hear a single one of them.

One of them finally hit the wall
Full speed, straight into the side of me.
It bounced. I blinked once. That was the whole event.
